The author, Dr. Ann Browning Masters is a 12th generation Floridian, and a descendant of the Floridanos and Menorcans who settled in St. Augustine. Her poetry represents personal aspects of growing up in St. Augustine, with the multiple aspects of diversity, struggles, religion, and civil rights that form part of the fabric of the oldest city in the United States.  St. Augustine was founded by the Spanish in 1565 and in September 2015, celebrated it's 450th anniversary.
